Otsuka Pharmaceutical Factory launches “HINEX E-Gel 1.5,” a concentrated liquid diet with a caloric density of 1.5 kcal/mL designed with intake volume and fluid restriction in mind
Otsuka Pharmaceutical Factory, Inc. (Head Office: Naruto, Tokushima, Japan; President and Representative Director: Shuichi Takagi; “Otsuka Pharmaceutical Factory”) will launch “HINEX® E-Gel 1.5” (“the product”), a concentrated liquid diet with a caloric density of 1.5 kcal/mL designed with intake volume and fluid restriction in mind, as a new addition to “HINEX,” its existing line of concentrated liquid diet products, on December 7, 2026.
The product is an oligomeric concentrated liquid diet containing collagen peptide, soybean peptide, and amino acids. It has a caloric density of 1.5 kcal/mL and is available in three product sizes: 300 kcal/200 mL, 400 kcal/267 mL, and 500 kcal/333 mL. The proportion of the three major nutrients is 20% protein, 40% fat, and 40% carbohydrates, and the product contains 5.0 g of protein per 100 kcal. It also contains more collagen peptide per equivalent amount of energy than HINEX E-Gel and HINEX E-Gel LC.
The product retains the characteristic of HINEX E-Gel and HINEX E-Gel LC whereby viscosity changes as the pH decreases, while its caloric density has been increased to 1.5 kcal/mL, compared with 0.8 kcal/mL for the two existing products. When consuming the same amount of energy, a smaller volume of the product is required than with the two 0.8 kcal/mL products. The product is therefore expected to support nutritional management in which intake volume and fluid restriction need to be considered.
Otsuka Pharmaceutical Factory has marketed HINEX E-Gel, HINEX E-Gel LC, HINEX RENUTE, HINEX Jelly, and HINEX Jelly Aqua as concentrated liquid diet products and has been contributing to the nutritional status of patients.
